Our mission is to facilitate the conservation and management of threatened marine megafauna through collaboration between research groups, non-profits, NGO's, governments and local communities.
Through collaboration, our work takes place in four continents and 18 countries.
We are proud to partner and collaborate with over 50 different organisations for conservation research.
MARECO has led and supported 42 publications in shark science.

Our strategy
Our work is centred around charismatic marine megafauna such as sharks, skates and rays, that serve as umbrella species to the wider marine environment.
Our expertise lies within shark science and conservation, supporting research, advocacy, policy, decision-making and enabling action for some of the world's most threatened species.
Marine megafauna are under increasing anthropogenic pressures, including habitat destruction, pollution, climate change and overfishing. In order to bring about positive change, we need to work together.
We ensure change and management is socio-culturally equitable. We do so by developing non-capture research methods and working closely with all stakeholders, bringing together people from all walks of life. We believe that everyone has a role to play in conserving threatened species. We are here to make sure everyone gets a chance to do so!
